CARIBBEAN GOES 80’s ~ FAQ’s
How do I register to go to the event?
You can buy your tickets online, call 902-541-0889 to purchase by phone or denniswoodworth at gmail.com. You pay $199.00 for your ticket and that confirms your reservation.
What else do I pay for?
The only other cost is your all inclusive cost. We make group reservations for all departure cities across Canada for all of our guests. Our prices are lower than online published rates with more benefits! When we acquire the best rates that we feel is best for each city.
You then apply a $250 deposit in September and your final payment will be November 26th. For example, if you live in Toronto and the all inclusive rate is $1250 taxes included. You would pay $250 in September and $1000 in November.
You can pay by credit card or etransfers. You can also make a payment plan with us of 10 equal payments of $125 per month. You can arrange that with us.
Are there any other costs?
No
You say that each guest needs to bring 10 lbs of donations to help the projects in Holguin. What can I bring and can I have people donate to me?
Our focus in on schools supplies for the local schools. Paper is really heavy so try to avoid that. Pens, pencils, erasers, glue, etc. Toys and medicine for the children’s hospitals. There are absolutely no toys, books, colouring books, crayons, etc. at the hospitals for the kids. I have seen first hand the boredom that kids go through while admitted into the hospitals. We just want to make their day a little brighter by giving them something to entertain them.
We are also on a campaign to assist young girls in birth control. The pill doesn’t exist in Cuba so we are looking for condoms and other items to assist young girls through their monthly time. Pain medication is greatly needed here too. Aspirin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.
The other issue is clothing and footwear. We in Canada throw away so much. Our focus is on clothing for young boys and girls and well as sneakers and shoes. Go visit your local dentists to see if they can help with toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.
Last but not least, you can bring food that is light and non perishable. Crackers, cookies, peanut butter, etc. Many families deal with food issues everyday.
Do I bring my donations with me on the plane? Where do I take them when we arrive?
Yes. Typically. Each passenger is allotted a 50 lbs bag for luggage. Use 10 lbs for donations and 40 lbs for yourself. If you collect more than that. You can request to purchase an additional bag for an extra cost. Usually around $50. When you arrive at the resort with your group. You can drop off the donations in the storage boxes in the lobby. We will have a team there to assist everyone when each group arrives!
How do I know that my donations will get to the kids?
Great question. Our team has worked directly with ICAAP, Minrex, INDER, Minister of Tourism and Minster of Education to ensure that all items are given to families in need. The Caribbean Goodwill Tours have worked in Cuba for 10 years in both the Provinces of Holguin and Matanzas.
Is it a requirement for everyone to bring at least 10 lbs of donations?
This event was created to help other people in the world. The cost of the event is much less expensive than other events like what we do but no one does it like us! We are here to create cultural and educational experiences through our events. It is a requirement to attend the concerts and events to bring the donations. People in your local communities across Canada can help. We can provide a sponsorship letter to give to local businesses and organizations.
Who do we fly with and where are we staying?
Which airlines we choose depends on what city you are departing from, what day you depart and how many passengers are in your group. We have acquired the Grand Aston Varadero as our all inclusive resort and they have met all of our requests for each days events! They are a 4.5 Star Beach Resort ready to serve our needs. Average cost will be $1200 – $1450 per person taxes included depending on departure city and room category choice, what date and how big your group is.
What events are planned for the week?
Great Question! Live shows are planned. These are on stage on the resort, beach party shows or acoustic shows. The shows start after all of our guests arrive. We will also have 8 team co ed Softball Tournament and many other fun things to do throughout the week. You will also be able to enjoy the pools, beaches, weather and culture of Cuba! We may even go to Matanzas city with a group to watch a live professional baseball game!
Do I have to bring an extra money with me?
If you would like. Each hotel has a bank to exchange money into local currency. The local currency is CUP and you can use that for tips or maybe buying some merchandise. Credit cards can be used in the hotel gift shops as well.
Is there anything else I should need to know?
If there is anything else you need to know. You can contact our President directly and he will answer any of your additional questions. You can contact him at denniswoodworth at gmail.com or 902-541-0889.
